Stylish Medical Alert Bracelets Reduce Elopement Risk
27th May 2022
When Watercrest Quality Services Director Shannon Morelli began her search for id bracelets for their memory care residents she evaluated a number of products that were typically used in an assisted living setting, but none could satisfy all her requirements. The bracelet had to be durable, since it would be worn 24/7. It had to be hypo-allergenic. Each medical ID bracelet would have to be custom engraved with the name of the Watercrest facility and the resident’s name. It also had to be attractive, so the resident would want to wear it. But, there was one more item on Morelli’s must-have list. She wanted a medical alert bracelet that the memory care resident couldn’t easily remove. Her search eventually led her to StickyJ, and its line of affordable Safety Clasp bracelets.
“I researched both memory care clinical type bracelets, and more elegant jewelry products”, said Ms. Morelli. “StickyJ was able to provide me with a custom product that met both my needs for identification and safety, and the attractive look allows each resident to feel comfortable wearing the bracelet. We supply a bracelet to every resident in our memory care neighborhoods, and we offer the option as well to our assisted living residents and families. The safety clasp bracelet not only allows associates to quickly identify the residents, it also provides contact information along with any additional medical information. And, it’s a wonderful alternative to the typical clinical look of other wearable identification products. Our residents love wearing their beautiful piece of custom Watercrest jewelry. It is received as an attractive welcome gift.”
One of the challenges Ms. Morelli faced was how to manage the bracelet ordering process, since each resident’s bracelet had to be custom engraved, and there were multiple facilities to consider. Watercrest and the Market Street brand currently own assisted living and memory care facilities at Lake Nona and Pelican Landing, and there are plans to add between four and six facilities annually. Ms. Morelli wanted each facility to be able to order bracelets individually as new residents arrive, so StickyJ created custom pricing and a separate wholesale account for each of Watercrest’s facilities. That way, each of the memory care directors could place their orders online as needed. “The team at StickyJ made the ordering process user-friendly,” said Ms. Morelli, “and the team at StickyJ is available if a question should arise. Ordering as needed allows for each bracelet to be customized for each resident, both with sizing and engraving needs.”
