Healthy Travel Packing List for 2021

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Taking the time to make a packing list will help you to feel more prepared, which will ensure a relaxing and fun vacation.
When putting together your healthy travel packing list, you’ll want to consider your destination, the length of your trip, and your mode of transportation.
What medications to bring:
- Prescription medications (take enough to last your entire trip including some extra just in case) in original, labeled containers
- Antacid
- Antihistamine
- Motion sickness medication
- Diarrhea medication
- Cough drops, cough suppressant, or expectorant
- Decongestant
- Pain and fever medicine
- Mild laxative
- Mild sedative or sleep aid
- Medicines to prevent Malaria (if needed)
Medical supplies specific to you and your family:
- Glasses and contacts
- Glasses repair kit
- Ample supply of contact lens solution
- Medical alert bracelet or necklace
- Emergency Medical Wallet Card
- Diabetes testing supplies
- Insulin
- Inhaler
- Epipens
- Feminine hygiene products
Prepare, prevent, protect:
- Hand sanitizer (containing at least 60% alcohol) or antibacterial hand wipes
- Mask
- Water purification tablets
- Insect repellent (with an active ingredient like DEET or picaridin)
- Sunscreen (with UVA and UVB protection, SPF 15 or higher)
- Sunglasses and hat
- Condoms
- Earplugs
Just in case – first aid kit:
- 1% hydrocortisone cream
- Antibacterial or antifungal ointments
- Digital thermometer
- Oral rehydration salts
- Antiseptic wound cleaner
- Aloe gel for sunburns
- Insect bite anti-itch gel or cream
- Bandages
- Disposable gloves
- Cotton swabs (Q-tips)
- Tweezers
- Eye drops
Pass
Documents:
- Copies of your passport or travel documents
- Copies of all prescriptions (medications, glasses, or medical supplies)
- Health insurance card and documents
- Proof of vaccines (if needed)
- Contact card with the street addresses, phones numbers, and email addresses of Family members or close contacts and health care providers
- Lodging at your destination
- Hospitals or clinics near your destination (including emergency services)
- US embassy or consulate in the destination county or countries
What you should bring on the plane:
- Location appropriate change of clothes
- Decompression socks
- Neck pillow
- Face wipes
- Healthy snacks
- Sweater
- Travel-sized toiletries
- Noise-canceling headphones
Before you go:
- Refill your prescription medications
- Make sure you’re up to date on vaccinations
- Arrange a ride to the airport ahead of time
- Share your itinerary with a family member or friend in case of emergency
- Throw out perishable food in your fridge so you don’t return to a mess
- Research the weather in your destination so you can pack accordingly
- Unplug electronics in your house to prevent fires
- Research the airline’s baggage restrictions
